Looks like we will have a bit over 100 Cattle of varying sorts with something for everyone. We have a few lines of Ewes booked in so expect about 100 or so of those. Included is a line of 19 Pure Bred Polled Dorset Ewes. We also have a selection of Rams including South Down & Polled Dorset. There are about 20 Weaner Pigs entered that I know of.

As the feed keeps growing most of our cattle listings have been snapped up.
Generally there is a shortage of Cattle and Lambs being offered for sale.
The abundance of feed and lower schedule values are keeping stock on the farms. But are the number’s out there?
Those that are sitting back holding off from buying, waiting for the market to get cheaper, just may have to think again or just miss out.

CommentIt has been quite an eventful 12 months since the Christchurch earthquake an we have seen a fair bit of water flow under the bridge but it is all trivial compared to what people in Christchurch experienced this time last year!
Looks like the meat industry has a new competitor with synthetically grown meat. The first thought is yeah but not in our life time. But it is scary the speed that technology is developing. There is no doubt that in time food will be artificially produced so that the world’s masses can be fed. Grass fed meat will become a luxury along with a bottle of fresh milk or real cheese.
Our Meat industry needs to and must become extremely innovative with the marketing of our true natural resource. Regards Shane Scott
